They go back to the camp to do the quest, but they find out Darla and 3 other jet black foxes destroyed the camp. Some bandits died, others lived and fled. They get attacked by the foxes and fall down the long gap (a ravine, that the bandit camp is on the walls of). They soon wonder into the caves at the bottom of the ravine. Meanwhile Mr. Unthank is asked by a man, to make a complicated machine in 5 days, that lets people go into the wood.
This book is compelling and mysterious. A part of the book with walking could just turn into the most important part of the book. I recommend this book.
