This is a beautifully crafted and amazingly deep story about a girl named Consuela, one fateful day she has an accident in a clothing store, she soon finds out that she now has the ability to shuck her skin, and create and don another out of the elements around her, (water, fire, air, butterflies...) She then learns that she has been connected with the Flow, a shifting world that overlaps with our own. She and other teens similarly trapped in this un-real reality soon find that they indeed are dead, or dying in some distant hospital. Removed from their own lives they must save the lives of others, their assignments, all people who when saved will make a greater impact for the good of mankind. The teens constantly delve into the meaning of life and death, trying to figure out why they are in the Flow, and why they were chosen.
Suddenly, one by one people in the Flow are being killed, and no one knows who is doing it. To save the lives of her remaining friends Consuela must make many decisions and try to save themselves before it is too late.
This book is a wonderful read and sheds light on a different world, a dangerous and terrifying world that the reader learns more about chapter by chapter. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend as a fantastical mystery you wont be able to put down.
