Velvet by: Mary Hooper
Velvet is a book about a girl named Velvet who works at a laundry shop in an early 20th century setting. She dreams of better work and when she is upgraded to the position of a gown laundress she soon receives an invitation to work as an assistant to the famous Madame Savoya, a psychic who claims she can speak to the dead. But soon she becomes suspicious that Savoya's work is not what it seems. In her quest to find the truth about madame Savoya's work, Velvet falls into terrible danger. She must prove the lies Savoya has been teling but risk het life in the process. I really liked this book because it has a lot of surprises and the story changes direction several times. It also has a lot of cliffhangers and leaves you wondering what will happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story and a ferocious plot.
